The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) Engineering Services Examination (SES) is a competitive exam conducted to recruit engineers for various technical positions within the Madhya Pradesh state government. The roles filled through this examination include Assistant Engineer positions in departments such as Public Works, Water Resources, Public Health Engineering, and Rural Development, among others.
The MPPSC SES is held annually and consists of a multi-stage selection process:
-
Preliminary Examination: This is the initial screening stage and consists of two objective-type papers. The first paper is General Studies, which tests candidates on general knowledge, current affairs, and general mental ability. The second paper is Engineering Aptitude, which focuses on subjects related to the specific engineering discipline of the candidate, such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Agriculture Engineering. Each paper carries 300 marks, and the Preliminary Examination is designed to filter out candidates for the next stage.
-
Main Examination: Candidates who clear the Preliminary Examination move on to the Main Examination. This stage comprises two descriptive papers specific to the candidate's engineering discipline, each carrying 300 marks. The Main Examination assesses the candidate’s in-depth knowledge and understanding of core engineering subjects, problem-solving skills, and their ability to apply engineering principles to real-world scenarios.
-
Interview: The final stage is the Personality Test or Interview, which carries 75 marks. This stage evaluates the candidate’s overall personality, communication skills, technical knowledge, and suitability for a career in public service as an engineer.
The final selection is based on the cumulative scores of the Main Examination and the Interview. The MPPSC SES is highly competitive and attracts a large number of engineering graduates every year. Successful candidates are appointed to various engineering roles within the state government, where they contribute to the development and maintenance of infrastructure and public services across Madhya Pradesh.
